Athletics Master Plan Duke

HNTB completed athletic master planning services that included existing facility evaluation, new facility programming and planning concepts. The initial master plan study led directly to a more in-depth study of Cameron Indoor Stadium and Wallace Wade Stadium.

HNTB conducted an in-depth feasibility study of Wallace Wade Stadium. The goal of this project was to bring modern amenities into the stadium while also enhancing the level of intimacy and excitement. It was determined that the existing building was not able to achieve these goals, so a new tower was envisioned.

The result of the Cameron Indoor Stadium study will be a modern arena. Currently, the first floor functions as office space for athletics and development. The proposed design relocates the office space replacing it with suites and the Iron Duke Club VIP suite. The suites will have state-of-the-art technology and upgraded furnishings, and will be used on non-basketball game days. Because of the adjacency of Duke’s football stadium, these suites will be open for football game usage. Likewise, the two new club spaces will be used on non-game days.

Both the Athletics and Recreation Master Plan and Feasibility Studies have enabled Duke to assess facility needs and determine required improvements. Along with the proposed work at Wallace Wade Stadium, numerous other projects have been identified and will be completed in phases in conjunction with Wallace Wade Stadium improvements.
