John McKay Center
HNTB designed a 100,000-SF athletics and academics facility at the University of Southern California. This facility functions as a student-athlete academic center with services including, sports medicine, football operations, football lockers, auditorium and conference rooms, and a state-of-the-art strength and conditioning room. Working within an existing campus with two defined architectural styles, the architectural design of the John McKay Center bridges both the Romanesque/pre-Gothic style with the Tuscany and Southern European style by using materials and motifs from both periods. The landscape design reflects the campus design criteria, and the functional parts of the building reflects the campus criteria established by USC’s Capital Construction Department and their Facilities Management Services.
