Kentucky Proud Park
HNTB, in collaboration with Ballpark Design Associates and RossTarrant Architects, designed a modern, ballpark for the University of Kentucky. The new stadium features 2,200 chair-back seats, 40 loge seats, 160 club seats, 34 suite seats, 1,600 grass terrace/berm seats, 650 student outfield seats, and the option to add temporary outfield seating increasing capacity to 7,000 to host NCAA Tournament games.
Additional program elements include a modern team facility complex with lockers, training room, lounge, indoor batting cages, indoor practice infield facility, alumni lockers, and video viewing area. Additionally, the project includes a coaches’ office suite, recruiting room with an outdoor patio, press/media areas, stadium operations boxes, state-of-the art video board, and a distributed sound system. The exterior design was developed in consideration of the existing campus architecture and integrated throughout plazas, walkways, and landscaped areas to create a seamless athletics precinct that connects baseball, softball and soccer facilities together.
