Confidential Arena Renovation
HNTB engaged in a think tank for the renovation of an iconic a 20,000-seat multi-use arena to illustrate how existing arenas can be adapted to facilitate the ever-changing landscape of the market.
HNTB developed a concept for the renovation that allows the building to transform so that it can host not one, but multiple events at the same time at different scales, intensities and degrees of fan engagement. The key concept to unlock this flexibility is “The Halo.” This one element integrates a unique premium offering, integrates immersive technology, shrouds the upper deck and creates a secondary event space “behind the curtain.” Additional ideas include diversifying the premium offerings, creating adaptable lobby and activating a player canyon.
Like new arenas, reimagined arenas can draw a crowd! The renovation will expand the arena’s ability to host diverse events and be a locus of activity every night of the week. This, in turn, generates new opportunities for economic growth within the neighborhood in the form of hotels, restaurants and local businesses. HNTB believes it is critical to investigate this grown as part of concept design to ensure success and maximize opportunities.
